Part of the proceeds from this magnificent Scottish music and games festival (and from sale of the painting) will go to Texas Children's Hospital.

Center stage, Reliant Stadium - Sam Caldwell painted a complete watercolor during CCA's Houston banquet. At the end of the Live Auction, the framed painting was the last item on the block.

Rainbow Lodge in Houston


Celebrating Rudy von Strasser's award as Winery Of The Year, and Caldwell's honor as Texas State Artist. Freestone wines will be featured, with Sam Caldwell's label art (ala Picasso and Monet, Caldwell received a case of wine for von Strasser's wine label painting). Sample Rainbow Lodge's fine cuisine, admire the Lodge's Caldwell collection, buy a Caldwell print.

Houston's Rainbow Lodge is well-known for events combining fine wines and wildgame fare. The lodge will link outdoor cuisine with vintages branded by a Caldwell depiction of a Lefty Deceiver fly.

Rudy von Strasser will show the original art of Caldwell's Deceiver fly, as well as other well known artists. Caldwell will have a variety of his original paintings on view, along with CCA conservation prints. Also available will be CCA's Change of Tides, named "Best Outdoor Book of 2000" by the Texas Outdoor Writers Association (TOWA). All the books will be remarqued by Caldwell.
Part of the proceeds will go to the Coastal Conservation Association.
Lodge owner Donnette Hansen said that if weather permits, there will be a first-ever flyfishing event (invented by Caldwell) in the lodge's pond.

The new Texas Sporting Journal has the good taste to use Caldwell art and stories in several issues. TSJ is a big, handsome outdoor magazine that is drawing rave reviews from readers across the state. It's jam full of top notch fiction, humor, adventure tales, superb photos and great art.
